Been there too.
1969-1970 with the 1st Brigade, 5th Infantry Division (Mechanized).
We were on loan to the 3rd Marine Division.

Me too. Mostly Chu Lai South to Quang Nai (sp). area. Took awhile, but we caught a rogue Marine that was killing water buffalo along the route. He said he had no idea how long it took a farmer to purchase one. Just thought they were an ugly animal and need to die. Even in the Corps, we had a few fruit cakes.
Van, last mountain top ; just below the DMZ and right of Laos;; any way to find out the height or any info on it. This is where I had last ground attack.
I don't know what the hill was call back then, but its known as Kha Bao Ton Thien, which means that it is designated now as a game reserve. Has a elevation 1,173 if this is the one?
Back then it was near the Ho Chi Minh trail.
A couple of clicks south of that was the famous battle of hill 881, that took place in May of 1967, where Marine losses totaled 155 dead and 425 wounded after capturing the hill.
