Pretty sure I heard mine from a (Fort Leonard Wood) DI that was mocking unhappy overworked privates -- "and when you look at yourself in the mirror, you can just read it off of the tab, 'yes my retarded ass signed up!'"

I should have put a smiley face on that post! My time in the Army, probably shaped me into mostly who I am today....but I have felt at times, that I had some unfinished business I didn't get to do.

    Re: Kabar

The decision to "re-up or exit" in 1995 was one of the hardest decisions I've ever made.

Looking back, I'm pretty sure I made the right decision (barely), but for the wrong reasons.

    Re: Kabar

I actually tried to go back in when I was in my late 20s. Had it all set up with recruiter. Walk back in at my old job and guaranteed E5 within one year of walk back out. Wife wouldn't agree unless I sent back as an officer. Would have to have done 4 years of college in 3 years to make age requirement. That and work full time to support my family. My only regret is that instead of finishing out the last 3 months of my enlistment, to see if got promoted during that time with a possible second promotion upon re-enlistment instead of opting for the early out.
