I received a new bolt roller greaser tool from Big Mike’s Armory & Repair, LLC in Decatur, Indiana. The bolt roller is made of machined brass, so won't have any adverse effect on the steel roller. The tool works very well and is better than the roller greaser that I have had for quite some time. The knurling and weight of the tool makes it easy to use. These can be gotten for around $15 shipped from what I have been told.

The M14/M1A Brass Roller Bearing Greaser is featured in the February edition of Shooting Industry magazine on p. 44. In addition, a professional YouTube demonstration video was produced by FMG Publications and is featured on their YouTube channel, Facebook and Twitter: http://www.shootingindustry.com/an-easier-way-to-grease-your-m1a-bolt-roller-bearing/.

Gosh that's perty. They get used so often there should be a loop so they could be worn on a neck chain.

I'm sure there's at least one person who will say SEI makes a better one.

heck, anyone with a lathe can turn one, especially with the easiest metal to work with ever (brass).

for $15/ea, I can lose a few and not be upset. bb7

The one I got from Brownells works great. I just keep loading grease until it starts coming out of the other side of the roller. Takes maybe...2 or 3 minutes. Clean up the old grease that's been displaced and I'm ready to rock.

The yellow cap for the grease cups that have been around forever are designed to be used to apply the grease to the roller. Works fine, so does the palm of my hand.

Why are you guys hammering this product? There may be better tools available, but there is nothing wrong with this one and everyone has the right to produce and market just about anything. We all have our preferences, but give Hawk a little credit for introducing a relatively good tool that doesn't cost too much for the members of his forum. I produce and sell a .30 Cal. muzzle gage that costs twice as much as those sold by the CMP and Brownell's. I think it's a superior product and I'm proud to offer it. That doesn't mean that those who choose to use a bullet to measure the bore for muzzle wear are wrong or should knock my gage because it costs more. They don't get the same results.

OK, serious question from someone who should know better. How often should you grease the roller? Every cleaning or ??? I have the little delrin one and I think I have only used it a few times ( maybe like once per 1000 shots).

I think that it's good to grease the roller every 500 rounds or so. The main thing is to not allow it to go dry. Most of the failures of bolt rollers I've seen (where they just come off) is caused by the failure of the retaining ring which just wares out if not greased. It a lot of fun trying to remove a worn ring form the roller too.
As a side note, the GI bolt roller plyer is not intended or used to remove the bolt roller. It is only used to install the roller.
