So what’s everyone’s go to nutrition when they’re out in the bush or on the trail? Mine is peanut butter, sometimes plain, sometimes with dehydrated fruit mixed in. Just a jar and a spoon works for me. Share some ideas guys.

Re: Snack
Vienna sausages in a can, Spam, boiled eggs, crackers. Instant coffee, if I want to boil some water. Maybe not trail or camping meals, but pretty much what I always packed to the woods when logging or cutting firewood. I still pretty much eat the same things, when I spend the day at the long steel range once a week."Keep 'em in the 10 Ring!"

I'm pretty fond of the Cliff bars. Good for quick meals on the run. About as well balanced as can be. Cheap if you buy in bulk.EVERY DAY IS LEG DAY, GET UP, GET OUT, AND LIFT HEAVY!!!

Re: Snack
When I use to ride in century events, you had to travel light. After going the route with Energy Bars and their 140 calories output, I quickly found that I couldn't stock enough of them in my small pouch, when your burning around 500 calories an hour.
Not only that, they are pretty dry, which requires precious water to wash it down.
On a tip, I which to Abba-Zaba Bars (250 cal.) which contains peanut butter, and never looked back !

Back when I started with MSP we only made $7200 a year, 10 hour shifts with no overtime, so I tonged oysters. When I got hungry I shucked some and ate them raw.
Tonging oysters was by far the hardest work I have ever done but I could make over $100 a day clear. The only Woodstock I saw in 1969 was on my M14

When I worked for the USDA as a safety technician I used to supplement my income by dredging for bay scallops. Made good money at it and as we loved scallops, filled the freezer ta boot.

Re: Snack
MRE's are good...you have to remember they have a very high calorie count to sustain combat troops, if you're on a diet you might want to stay away from this type of meal. I remember eating "C" rations in 1966 Vietnam that was dated late WWII and Korean war era...don't remember seeing any dates after late 1950s.U.S. Army Sergeant Major, retired 1990

Re: Snack
I remember once in Delta Junction, Alaska, we were on a FTX and dug into our defensive position against some lower 48 units...we got word that hot chow was being served and we could go to 50% security, so send men to the cook tent just long enough to get our chow and get back to the line. Once we got to the tent, we noticed cases of bacon stacked outside(20 below zero), you guessed it, we grabbed a case and got back to our positions, we had enough for the whole platoon! Later on, when we had a chance to put up the ten man tents, we cooked the bacon on the yukon stoves! Best bacon I ever had!"Keep 'em in the 10 Ring!"
