exclamation New "Old Skool" chili dogs

I hadn't made one of my favorite chili dog recipes in a few years so yesterday I figured what the heck.....

When shopping for ingredients, I decided I would try something different than my usual recipe.

    Iingredients:

-1lb ground beef (scramble until small pieces then drain as much fat as you can out of it)
-chili powder (probably about a tablespoon)
    -onion powder (maybe 1/2 teaspoon)
    -garlic powder (about the same)
    -tomato paste (small can)
    -water (fill small can)
    -salt (1/4 teaspoon)
    -sugar (teaspoon)
-salsa (I used Guy Fieri's Old Skool original salsa)

Add everything in the above list pretty much in the order listed. Simmer until the bitterness of the chili powder is almost gone. Take off burner and let sit for awhile so the flavors self blend better. Reheat if necessary upon use.

You can use whatever you favorite hotdog brand is, but, I use Ball Park all beef hotdogs. I also put brown mustard on the hotdog before adding the chili.

I don't really like raw onion, but, if you like them, you can also add some chopped onion on top before eating. The number of hotdogs depends on how much chili used, but, will do at least 8.

    Bon Apetite!

I decided to name this Old Skool Chili due to adding salsa to the recipe.

Not to worry Hawk, I don't use beans in chili either.
I do make chili con carne that has beans though so everyone is happy.

I just remember " Bean Beans are good for your heart, the more you eat the more you fart". At my age, I have to worry about farts with lumps so no beans in chili.

I'm OK with beans in chili, but beans in "chili dog" chili would be weird.

To me that's like putting beans in your sloppy joe mix.

Here in the Southwest, we have beans, yellow onions, red chili pepper and cheddar cheese in our chili. If you didn't break out a sweat, it wasn't good enough.

This is an opportunity to share this about chili bowl sizes in a restaurant I used to frequent in Fairbanks, Alaska.

    Alaska size
    Extra Large
    Large
    Medium
    Small
    Texas sized, our smallest!

Those men from Texas hated seeing that!
