    If you are talking about the IDF mount, it's not a push button. It appears to be a cover for the plunger detent spring.

    yes, the IDF mount,, that round button compresses, maybe it lifts the unit off the serations for removal... Art L.

    Ya got me going now Art. I have 2 of them and didn't know it compresses. I will have to take a closer look when I am in the shop. Thanks for teaching me something new. Today is not a total loss.

    Here we go Art.
    After careful examination and disassembly here is what I found. The button, as you call it, is simply a grooved re-tension cap for the spring which establishes the pressure for the ratchet system and is held in place with a tiny pin that rides in the groove. Photos of mount assembled and with spring and cap removed. That is one itty bitty pin. Had a heck of a time finding something to use as a punch to get it apart.
