    Independence Day Known Distance AQT

I met some other patriots for some Known Distance shooting on the Army Qualification Test, which is used in the Appleseed program, at the Vets Shooting Center in Russell, Arkansas. Temperature was in the 90's, with high humidity.

I can report that the shoot went very well, with good scores being shot. Rifles used, were one M14, one M1 and three AR15's. I can say, that the M14 Rifleman shot the high score! 48/50.

    Here's a few pictures.

Here's one of me in my modified sitting position, works pretty well.

My son in prone, shot well, even though, he had not shot a rifle in over a year.

Ol' shooting buddy, with his trusty mouse rifle.

This young man took advantage of a break in the action and shot his uncle's M1.

We didn't have a Appleseed shoot on this 4th of July. I did get to shoot in a M1 Garand match with about 29 other guys. 6 sighters and 50 shots for score--very humid weather.
Went home after the shoot, cleaned up and watched, "Sons Of Liberty" on television. Fun day!

Kinda wish I could have been there in Arkansas, . . .

Been having fun shooting this year, . . . most I've been able to do in a long time.

But on the 4th, . . . if I'm home, . . . it's parade time, . . . get out the M14, dress whites, polish them there shoes, . . . we lead off every year as the color guard. Bunch of church guys, some from ARNG, but a good time had by all.

Good shootin there 4570, . . . keeps them youngsters interested.

    May God bless,
    Dwight
