Win-13 CMP Special followed me home from Camp Perry.

I had no intention of picking up any more M1s at Camp Perry this year, but just couldn't pass up another Winchester receivered special.
This one is a Win-13 receiver with Criterion barrel and new CMP stock. Most small parts are SA.
Just finished up disassembly , cleaning and lubing and putting her back together. As with most of the CMP M1s I have bought over the years the interior of the op rod was nasty with rust and other accumulated debris. Looking forward to shooting this one later this weekend.
Oh yea, I noticed the front sight/gas cylinder was staked. Don't think I ever noticed that before.

    Wow ! Nice find !

It's estimated around only 30,000 of those receivers were made in 43' out of a total production of 5.4 million WW2 Garands!

Very nice, I have no need for another M1, but I would buy a Winchester or IHC, if given the choice!

Need has nothing to do with my purchase, more a want thing. I liked the idea of a new 1/10 Criterion barrel with what looks like a medium contour.

While visiting Art Neergaard at his ShootingSight booth at Camp Perry , he handed me another different model of his lightened triggers to see what I thought of it.
Since I will be messing with my new Win-13 special , why not try it in this rifle.

Trigger and plunger installed in M1 trigger group. Looks great and feel is simply wonderful.
