N.Y. eyes license requirement for bike riders

"New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said he is considering requiring bicyclists to be licensed and registered like automobile drivers currently are."

    Oh boy !

Re: N.Y. eyes license requirement for bike riders

I don't think it would help. Take motorcycle riders for example. A good number of them couldn't care less what the laws are. They swerve in and out of traffic at high speed, pop wheelies in the road doing 70+ mph, pass on any side they want.....do you think bicyclists would change their ways? Naw....

There are a lot of safe bikers out there in both, but, seems like there are more idiots than safe riders.

A police officer can catch a bicycle and give the operator a summons unlike a motorcycle.

Yep its about revenue not safety as more people with any means flee that city and the state. Bet they could generate a ton of money in NYC and the state by liberalizing the gun laws and making it very easy to get a license to carry.
