That's pretty slick.
I have always just chambered a spent 30.06 case. The op rod spring would cause relief and a punch up through the mag well disassembled like a boss.
I think your way is handier....

Great tip! I've used the tool and 30.06 case methods. Never thought about drilling a hole in my bench like you did.

You should have learned to use your combo tool in your right hand and bolt in your left to change bolt internals 50 years ago. We were strong enough then to do it that way.
