    Coronavirus Blog

Since restrictions and mandates are being implemented in various states to curtail the Coronavirus , I thought it would be interesting and informative, to give daily observations on whats happening in your area , or neighborhood.

Eureka Ca. Humboldt county 3/18/2020. (week one,)

This morning at 7:00 am there was a long line of people waiting to enter a large chain grocery store (Winco).
They only allowed a small percentage of people to enter at a time, after each persons hands were sanitized before entering. The others had to wait outside till it was their turn to enter the store. (just this store at this time)

All schools are closed, along with bars and restaurants and theaters in the state.
All public meetings and events are canceled that deal with more than ten people .
Most people are still going to work.

    What have you observed ?

Shit paper is sold out, and so are disinfectants. Can still get witch hazel though! :)

I have a job lined up, but I fear that is going to get postponed.

    Re: Coronavirus Blog

Took a ride yesterday to go to the bank (drive through) and to get out of the house.
Typically, this time of year, people are itching to get spring started and take advantage of the weather. The streets downtown were very quiet. Most vehicles were parked with only a few driving through town. Most stores were closed. Only saw three people out and about. There was a eeryness similar to just after 911.

    Re: Coronavirus Blog

Reports I hear in my area, the grocery stores were a madhouse over last weekend, the toilet paper is all gone. Now the stores are somewhat back to normal, still toilet paper is sold out(weird).

All the schools in Arkansas are closed, but Spring Break was starting next week anyhow, but we are hearing it may be extended.

Ammunition in popular calibers is running out fast.

I'm always vigilant, but I am even more so now. Seems like times like these, brings out the best in most, the worst in others.

    Re: Coronavirus Blog

Bars are closed. Restaurants closed except for take out. Schools are closed. Local Gov. offices are open. The stores are striped, the sheeple are in a buying panic. I did my normal 36 mile bike ride and there was less traffic then I normally see on a Sunday. In my neighborhood all the kids are out playing as always.

    Re: Coronavirus Blog

Bars, restaurants, fast food all closed except for drive thru and carry out.

I believe we are down all the way to no meetings or gatherings of more than 10 people.

Traffic on my road is half what is normal, . . . maybe even less.

Schools are closed for this week and the two following, . . . rumor is it will be closed until fall sessions start up. Bus drivers are making and delivering meals that kids would otherwise get at school.

Universities are "on line" classes or not at all, . . . nursing homes are locked out, . . . end of life visits only and those are carefully screened.

Saturday the Kroger store was normal busy for the day, . . . paper products and a lot of canned goods were sold out, . . . especially their "10 for $10.00" items.

The "whiskey store" inside the Kroger was not doing as brisk a business as I figured they would. I had to kind of laugh cause I figured that room would be a mad house, . . . with half the shelves empty, . . .

All doctor's visits and elective surgery is basically put off till a better day arrives.

AND, . . . it is cold, clammy, rainy, with a 15 mph wind blowing, . . . can't even go outside and play summer.

That's about the scoop of it from here in central Ohio.

    May God bless,
    Dwight

PS: Governor put the shut down on barber shops, nail salons, tattoo parlors, . . . all the 24 / 7 grocers and Wally world are now something like 7 am to 10 pm, . . . many are reserving the first 2 hours for seniors only.

    Re: Coronavirus Blog

We are FUBAR down here in Texas. Restrictions are all over the place. I live in Harris County and technically the City of Houston they cancelled the rodeo which I agreed with, restaurants, bars limited to take out only, movies strip clubs closed and gatherings in groups of ten or less so most churches and all schools closed for two weeks. Galveston County which is part of the metro is open for business with the exception of Galveston Island where the mayor implemented the same restrictions as Houston. Then Montgomery Country just north of Houston the only restriction is restaurants must have tables 10 foot apart.

I believe to fight this we all need to be on the same page.

I'm a manager in a furniture store outlet. We sell scratch and dent stuff from our retail stores. We are still open and dumb ass people are shopping for nonessential items. I'm now wearing a mask to protect myself.

Our company is trying to keep open so people can earn money and trying ti implement the 6 to 10 foot rule which is very hard. What the country needs is some good NCO's to keep the people in line. I had one youngster leaning on the counter talking to another employee and he was about three feet away. I said get back 6 feet and he said " I'm not afraid of no corona virus" I replied to him the I didn't care if he caught the virus and died. What I care about is my health and the health of others so move out and go back to work. I to say the same thing to other young people.

The lack discipline is going to keep this virus around for awhile.
You all can go to hell, I'm goin to Texas.

    Re: Coronavirus Blog

I stopped by a Wal-Mart in Greensboro yesterday to find bread for my 85 year old in laws. The grocery section looked like a bomb went off. I got 2 of the last 8 loaves of bread.

Restaurant drive thrus were a mad house, along the way of my trip to Asheville.

I'm hearing reports that gun shops are a zoo.

    Crazy times for sure!

    Re: Coronavirus Blog

Much the same here in the Baltimore/Washington D.C. area. Serious talk about keeping schools closed for the rest of the school year... parents are going nuts. I've taken the time to start cleaning out flower beds, prepping my garden, we are experiencing an early Spring with flowers blooming, etc. I even cut my grass yesterday. My pantry is well stocked, even have enough TP...I think. This also will give me time to catch up on my reloading.
