Re: Springfield Armory's New Bolt Action
I don’t hunt anymore but I think we underestimate what people will pay for the look they want. I routinely see $50K trucks pulling $50k campers, loaded with $15K worth of ATVs, so a sub $3K rifle becomes pretty easy to justify. Not saying it’s reasonable:)

I'm not knocking them, I've certainly paid more for firearms than a lot of folks would. I do know a good value for the dollar spent. Kind of getting into the Chevy versus Ford type of thing.

Most of us are old school to a time where a good hunting rifles ran in the $200 range (Winchester Model 70) and watched the prices creep up slowly over the years as well as the prices for bread and milk. Now In the gun rags that hit the stand each month, you hardly see a rifle advertised under a grand, or two ! (now only if the wages had increased at the same rate !)

My old sporterized M1903 works just fine. It'll drop any elk I choose. So does my Remington 788 in .308. I've got no use for a $1,000 hunting rifle; much less $3,000. But I'm a poor ignorant bumpkin that fell off a turnip truck, so what would I know?

Re: Springfield Armory's New Bolt Action
I have a Savage 110 Predator ( cal 223 rem ) with a fairly cheap scope that gets 1/2 MOA at 100 yards. The Springfield M1A Scout gets 1 MOA at the same distance and 3 to 7 MOA sandbagged at 600 Yards on my good days.
I have seen the Waypoint reach out to an actual mile on YouTube, and I'd get one just to see if it can actually do that at my brothers farm in St Lawerence County.
This Waypoint seems to be a great long range rifle but I have never taken any game animal farther than 75 yards. Varmints, predators and apex predators are a different story.

Re: Springfield Armory's New Bolt Action
I tripped in to a Browning Special Police Rifle, .308 with bipod and scope. Like new; a customer ordered the package - when it arrived and the shop called him he displayed not just buyer’s remorse but I don’t think he’s ever been back to that shop! I do need a new stock; a crazy wild ricochet took a corner off the front of the stock!
Here in Texas, earlier this year I bought a Ruger Precision Rifle chambered in 6.5 Creedmore.
Fun times a head!

Save it. Should be a great conversation starter and can't really have any functional effect.
