The high mount is only about 1/4” higher. I first bought a low and I had difficulty mounting the type of scope I have because auto range ring hitting my sight. SAI ART IV 3x9. Anyway with the high mount I can see the sights just fine wouldn’t be a problem to use them.

    Hope this makes sense.
I think it's for folks who want it all, even if it doesn't really work well. 2 different sight systems, that far apart, with no change in stock height aren't a great option.

The high best for scopes that interfere mechanically if a low mount was used.

    Re: Bassett scope mount questions

I have a different Bassett scope mount question.

My friend gave me his Bassett as thanks for getting his rifle mounted in a new Blackfeather stock.

I asked him about the Bassett wrench but he said he had no idea where it was.

Does anyone know the torque specs for the bolt to hold the mount to the receiver?

22 pounds. I have a regular Bassett tool, but a lot of the times, I just use the GI combination wrench. Been using Bassets for years.

    Absolutely.

The Bassett tool is roughly 1.5" long and you were to use the weight of the (14-15lb) rifle to torque the bolt in place.
