    6.5x68

It's calm quiet and boring here at home tonight, so why not explain my handle. Its kinda lame really, just what was in sight when I had to pick.
This is my Belgium Mauser chambered in 6.5x68. It's a custom rifle built by Charles Leavell of Sumpter South Carolina. Is it anything special? Ehhh, not really, but how many people have even heard of the caliber.
I picked this rifle up 20 some years ago and have still never fired it. The brass is extremely difficult to find under $3 a piece after shipping.
I have the dies and enough components to load 22 rounds, but my Attention Deficit Disorder has kept me from moving forward in load development.
Anyway, here she is. An obsolete nonbelted magnum cartridge. Note the size difference beside the 30.06

    Re: 6.5x68

I'm afraid I'd have to shoot it just to hear it go bang.

Had a discussion a few years back with a buddy about unfired safe queens . . . discovered my personality would never be able to do it. If I got it . . . I shoot it . . . with one exception . . . a hundred year old .32 revolver with a cracked cylinder. Never shot that one.

    May God bless,
    Dwight

I would have to move forward with shooting that! I bet it would be awesome for about any game animal in the lower 48.

    Re: 6.5x68

Hello Squad Leader - I know this thread is a bit old. Charles Leavell was my Uncle, he passed in 1975. I collect his rifles and have 4 of them, though none chambered in this round. If you would ever like to sell or trade for it, I would be very interested. If you would like to keep the scope, that would be fine. He was a Pecar-Berlin dealer and I have always put those on his rifles. I have a 300 Magnum, an 8x68S, a .270 Winchester and a 7x57 Mauser Leavell Mauser. Sincerely, Richard Latham 404-583-2083

Well, I wasn't expecting this one. Richard, I've seen your name pop up before in my research of the rifle. I believe it was the firearms forum. Anyway, I consider myself to be much more of a buyer than a seller, but perhaps a trade could talk me out it. I will certainly have to sleep on it first. The scope is a German B Nichol (27mm diameter I believe) that would have to be part of the deal as I have no idea what else I could use it on along with my dies and brass that would become entirely useless.
6.5x68 is my screen name as I'm not very imaginative and everything else was taken. Squad leader is my rank on the forum.
