Wow! that is a beautiful old gun!
One wonders how many of our old uncles and grandparents partially fed their families with one of these?

"The first Crack Shot is the No. 16 side lever operated version. The original 20″ barrel was round with two diameters, the smaller diameter starting at the fore-end tip. This rifle was made between 1900 and 1913."
I decided to dressed it out with a new 20" heavy octagon barrel, also the forearm shape is not the original configuration of the No.16, had to improvise !

    Nevertheless, a lovely rifle!

I think the closest I've got to that is this old single-shot .410 I picked up at a garage sale for a few bucks. I repaired the stock, re-filed the knurles, and worked on the extractor some. It was made in 1926.

I suppose one of my grandsons will wind up with it in a few years.

Had the 1890 out this morning for some offhand shooting at 20 yards. CCI does the best in this rifle.

Deleted most likely, since it was over a year old, but I found one !

Only thing original about this, is the receiver.

    J. Stevens Arms & Tool Company was the first to introduced the . 22 Long Rifle cartridge in 1887.
