    M113's Spotted On The Move

We have told Ukraine that we are sending them M113's in fact a gaggle load of them. Most current vehicles are painted in a desert tan. My kids were in route to Houston and passed a long train carrying only 113's headed south. Beaumont and Port Authur in east Texas are the shipping ports from the gulf so its a good bet that these are headed for Ukraine. Its going to take a long time for them to get there. I also discovered a video of 113's at a depot getting inspected. I saw two, one in Nato camo and another in OD that actually had a VN era ACAV turret still on it. You could tell both of them had been sitting outside for awhile.
You all can go to hell, I'm goin to Texas.

I'd love to have one just to run up and down the road . . . keep the neighbors guessing as to what was going on . . .

    May God bless,

I was TC on one of those in Illesheim and Vilseck Germany for a few years back in the 80's.

My kid actually rolled a 113.
Did better with M60 hulls and M1's.

M113's are very versatile bits of gear. You can do a lot with them.

In the 70's we even had them set up for short range ADA with a Vulcan and ROR...

...with a secondary mission, of course...

I remember seeing them with the Vulcan. They gave my 113 with a M2 "envy".

Re: M113's Spotted On The Move

I'm glad I was always Airborne or Light Infantry, the only real experience I had on M113's was during training at Fort Benning. I do remember seeing some of them rampaging through the piney woods of Fort Stewart, you had to watch out for those maniacs!

My brother was one of those maniacs in Hanau, Germany in the late 80s and Ft. Stewart in 1991-1992.

When they dissolved 3AD after GW1, a lot of them ended up in Ft. Stewart in some provisional command.

Somewhere I have a photo of him in front of the M113 he drove in Iraq during GW1. The catch on the fording plate was broken so it was held in place with a tie-down strap. Good ol' army improvisation.

Re: M113's Spotted On The Move

My kid says they are a blast to drive. :)
I guess that's why he rolled one.

Yeah, improv has to make up for supply chain snafu's.
