    Re: WWII Haircuts ???/

Traditionally short haircuts were more for personnel hygiene of the soldiers. Lots of men were coming situations were taking a shower or bath once in the Springtime was the standard. The "shaving" of the head was to insure head lice and other parasites were not transmitted to the other soldiers going through the process of induction into the military. I personally like to keep my hair short as I was assigned to a combat support branch and possibilities of getting into a hand-to-hand combat situation was remote but possible. You surely do not want your enemy crabbing onto your hair in a fight. Again depending on the combat situation, like the desert you probability want to keep the hair short due to the heat, dust and sand making a matted mess of your hair.

1969 the base camp barber shop had photos high on the wall.
Yul Brenner, Micky Mantel and Steve McQueen.
    Those were the choices.
It was Steve and me every time.
