Way too technical for this old dude. God was kind enough to supply a 200' back stop that does a pretty good job of keeping wind to a minimum and I only shoot 22s at home these days.

Re: Wind Drift Chart for 22 Long Rifle

Basically, just a little bit of cross wind can open your group up big time !

5mph cross wind at 100yds will move a 22LR bullet 2" off target.

Great practice for shooting real rifles at distance.

Something I would seldom need on my personal range . . . wind usually comes into my face out of the west.

    May God bless,

Re: Wind Drift Chart for 22 Long Rifle

    The simple truth consolidated:

"If you're shooting a 22 long rifle in even light wind, you don't have too far to look for an alibi when all your bullets don't all go into one hole. As these tables and charts show, a breeze of just 10 mph can blow your shot by an inch at 50 yards. And if you shoot in variable winds, as most of us do, a 2 MOA (1") group is the best you can hope for even with a rifle that shoots like a laser, unless you know how to compensate for wind drift, and consistently judge wind speed."
