That's my old stomping grounds, btw.

The books make reference to "Independence" (Kansas) a few times.

    Re: On the way home.

I've never watched one episode of Little House on the Prairie, but I've seen many photos over the years. I know nothing of the show, but the pics of "the house" always got me wondering... The upstairs window is REAL close to the downstairs window; almost illogical. Was the house a single story with no loft and that's just a high window ? Is the upper window, if there is a loft, level with the floor ? How low is the first floor ceiling ? What's the deal with that window ??

Yeah, when I was young, I'd pick up on stuff like that, I was basically a young building inspector I guess.....lol

    Re: On the way home.

Houses in the old days (and still, in New England, apparently) were built with very low ceilings - like 80 inches. Easier to heat. I know that my grandma's house started out as a log cabin around 1900 that had a 2nd story added and interior/exterior walls fitted to it in the 1940's. The upper story's window were indeed at floor level.

The house pictured has a sleeping loft reachable by a wooden ladder. My 3 daughters all watched "Little House" so it would seem reasonable that I would end up watching it on occasion too.

I never watched a single episode of "Little House" but I used to enjoy Jane Seymor - I mean, Dr. Quinn...
