    300 Savage model 99.

A gunsmith friend of mine was at my range yesterday to sight in a Savage model 99 that he had recently worked on an installed an old 2x scope.
Because of the cost of the ammo I convinced him to use my Slite SL-500 laser boresighting tool. Stuck it in the end of the barrel and had him adjust the reticle to meet with the dot at 50 yards. Pulled the laser out of the bore and the first shot was within 1/2" of center, the second made a large hole. Called it good enough and he has asked to come back with other's rifles getting ready for deer season. He tells me that ammo for this caliber is now running almost $60 for box of 20. Holy Smokes Batman. Whatta Hobby!

    Dang! :(
It hasn't been that long since .50 BMG was cheaper than that.

Is that the .300 Savage, the .303 or the .22 High Power?

Hunted with a fellow yrs ago that had a 99 in 308 topped with a 4x Leupold. It was the only high power rifle he owned and shot it well.
    Those are nice leverguns.
