I need another gun like I need a third nipple, but I would have a hard time resisting one of those if I happened upon one.

Re: 590 s
Isn't the difference between a 500 and a 590 simply that the 590 has a metal trigger guard instead of plastic?
(Of course, then you start sawing off barrels and adding bayonet mounts and fancy sights and plastic stocks and...)

Re: 590 s
I keep a Mossberg 500 next to my bed. It's leftover from my Security Officer days. No pistols with lasers or flashlights, no rifles with mag pouches on the stock. Bullets are very, very small. You need to aim very carefully for them to work. Shotgun is point and slap. No proper sight picture necessary. I don't need to put on my glasses.
I've always wanted a 590 simply because you can fix a bayonet. Not really useful at all, but still cool. It reminds me of bayonet training in boot. The DI said if you stick someone and he gets stuck on your bayonet, just pull the trigger, blow him off. I raised my hand and asked, "Sir, if the Private is already pointing his loaded rifle at him, why not just shoot instead of using the bayonet ?" His response ? "Give me 20.".
I still like the 590, though.
The older I get, the more I realize "life in prison" is not that much of a deterrent.
