I can see that already Van. One needs to keep on top of the things and more that a light coating of oil is required to keep them running. Easy to see why they were dropped for military service in a dusty, dirty, or wet environment. I can also see why folks like them for accuracy on a range that is located in a clean area once they learn how to pamper the .308 AR type rifles. Fun learning experience at any rate. Whatta Hobby!

Impressive rifle nf1e. I'm not exactly and AR fan but a 308 fan. Good luck with this rifle. The range should have very good results.

I am not a fan either, but one of those bucket list thingies. Still messing with getting all the right parts in the right places to make this thing do what I would like. Changed out the handguard yesterday so I can use one of my Night Force ATACRs without going to higher rings to accommodate the large 60mm front bell. Went with one that only has the rail on the ends and the center is down a bit. Looks a bit like a sway back horse awaiting the glue factory but I have always liked different. Whatta Hobby!

You are making me reconsider the optic on my SFAR. I originally intended to use the 2-10 or a 3-15. Maybe if i could find one that i could trade for a 1-10. I was thinking that large obj. would look funny.

But, the devil on my other shoulder just reminded me that the SFAR is sub 7.5 pounds and needs a lighter scope....

Re: Putting together an AR-10 type rifle.

Finally, I think I have my optic configurations for these ARs down to what I like.
Top rifle is a RR .223 with a 20" barrel and a Timney 10oz trigger. Bottom is an Aero Precison .308 build with a 20" barrel and an ELF 3# trigger. Night Force scopes are top the BEAST 5-25 and lower ATACR 5-25. I may move the top scope forward a few inches, but I love the scope. Whatta Hobby!

Which, truth be told, is probably 99.99% of the shooters out there.....lol

Re: Putting together an AR-10 type rifle.

If I ever make it back to Long Island and decide to hop the ferry going across the Sound, I'd like to swing by. I won't stay long, I won't talk much, I won't fondle anything and I promise to bring my own drool bucket and shop rags...

Just kidding...but I will admit every time I see a post of yours, I click it knowing full well it's gonna be something really cool or in the process of becoming really cool.

Maybe you could talk Hawk into a carpool the next time he comes up to my place. All are welcome anytime. I can put a tarp or two down as drool catchers.
