History of the 24th Division 'Taro Leafs' in Korea?

Guy's I did not serve but my late dad did and was in the 19th infrantry regiment of the 24th Division (sp) in '50/'51 in Korea... I have heard both good and bad about the 24th there...?

I got his 'Taro Leaf' magazine yesterday and took it to work to read and there was an article about the all black 24th infrantry division of the 25th Division? It had typo's like mine here...

It claimed the 24th was not all black and was the one to fully intigrate back then...

the 24th Infantry "Regiment". Was indeed one of the Buffalo Soldier Regiments.
All the enlisted were black. either veterans of the U.S. Colored Troops, or freed men... They were formed in summer of 1869

I was stationed at Hunter Army Airfield, which is 40 miles south of Fort Stewart. Back in the 1980's the 24th Infantry Division was at Fort Stewart. I know that the 19th Infantry regiment was part of the 24th as well. The 19th was an old Civil War regiment, known as the "Rock of Chickamauga" The Army has a lot of history and there are units that have been in existence since 1775. There are still some controversy about some of the black units in Korea, but mostly they served with honor.

In '83-'85 I was stationed in Germany with E troop 1/10 ACR (Armored Cavalry Regiment). Our unit crest was a buffalo, and we were called Buffalo Soldiers even though it hasn't been a black unit since who knows when.
