Found these on my 20 year old Gateway that still boots up ,even asked me if I wanted to connect to AOL at 24 kbs😂
Was a guest over on Hawk's old sight from 2003-2005 when I joined up
I replaced my dial caliper with a solar digital 6" that is IP-67 coolant and dust proof. When it was purchased 10 years ago it was over $450.00
I have had 3 different calipers over the 30 year career. I still use all of them.
When you buy a precision tool, take good care of it, and lend it to no one.

I was awarded that Mitutoyo in a mic set for taking 1st place in final exams at machine trades school. I have 5 other calipers up to 24", but I use that little Mitutoyo most of the time.
My go to caliper is Browne & Sharpe ,smooth as silk and nothing compares but the jaws are starting to wear. After 36 years still smooth.
Those 4" Mitutoyo I keep at the gun bench for quick checks ,they also have narrower jaw to measure right locking off receiver using step side of jaws.
I actually did that to one of my Dad's Starretts when I was kid. Yes, I jacked it up good. I still have it. It's 82 years old now. You can still use it if you know how to interpret the "feel" of it. But I don't. I don't know why I haven't chucked it. :(
