Priming tools
Since my right hand has taken some time off for healing, I have been listening to guys recommendations for other types of priming tools. So far the Forster seems to be well made, smoother and does not require any additional shell holders. The RCBS is rugged but involves more movements to prime. The Lee is not bad, but a little flimsy for my liking. I want to do a few hundred more priming operations before I make a decision which I like best. Going to be very hard to beat the RCBS universal hand primer for overall ease of operations. Whatta Hobby!

I like the looks of that RCBS tool, looks easy to use and would prime very well.

Re: Priming tools
I bought me one of them after seeing Art's but have not used it much since I set it up for 'small' primers... I am using the 'standard' RCBS one now that uses their shell holders for my large rifle one's and really like it... Seems much stronger than my old Lees for sure!

Re: Priming tools
I use my early 90's Lee hand primer for small primers, mainly because I load so few of them. For anything involving large primers I use this beast from Frankford Arsenal.

I just used the little lever thing that came on my Rock Chucker. No complaints.

Re: Priming tools
I used my original Lee tool until the lever broke (many thousands of primers) and replaced it with the Hornady #0500021

which uses your whole hand to press the primer into place. I have been very satisfied with it.

What I like about the middle two options is you don't have to constantly tell yerself, "not in the face, not in the face, not in the face." The very nature of the positioning of the tool, you'd be hard-pressed to put your face in the blasting area should you accidentally touch off a primer.

Re: Priming tools
Has anyone set off a primer on purpose against a piece of plywood to see how much damage it can inflict???

Re: Priming tools
Looking closely at the Hornady #0500021, I see it is a later version of the one I have. So my comments about liking it really apply to the earlier model. But the essential comment about being a whole hand tool still applies.
