VE Day
Yesterday was VE Day. Not much in the news about the importance of this day in 1945. Coming up the anniversary of the dropping of two nuclear weapons on Japan and then VJ Day.
You all can go to hell, I'm goin to Texas.

Re: VE Day
They don't report on many important events in our history anymore.
Probably squeamish because of Fat man & Little boy...Trying to be "correct"
The new kids just see Japan's youth in their decline over there.
They can't imagine that they were once a brutal force to be reckoned with.
Thank you for posting!

My baby sister was killed in a car wreck by a drunk . . . in the mid afternoon of Aug 6, 1949 . . . 5 yrs to the day after Hiroshima.
Every year as it approaches I get another attitude . . . and it has nothing to do with the Japanese . . . although I do recall the sharing of the date.
I hit Japan once on R&R . . . it was a bust . . . Subic bay was much friendlier . . . and a better place to visit in my book.
Little slut took a black magic marker to the backside of my white jumper. Didn't make me love them any more . . . believe me.
In school we talked about the atomic bombs . . . VJ . . . and stuff . . . but if VE day was even mentioned . . . I musta been looking out the window.
May God bless,
Dwight

Re: VE Day
If you ever get to Fredricksburg Texas the National Museum of the Pacific is there. Nimitz grew up there. They have a replica of the atomic bombs and a PT Boat. The museum is well done.
