I'll admit, I never had biscuits and gravy when I first moved to Texas, and it's a staple down here. It just looked nasty. Flour, milk, salt and pepper is NOT gravy.
After a few years of saying, "nope, I'll pass.", I tried it. OMG, that and a cup of good coffee is amazing !! There's a place in Galveston that makes incredible biscuits and gravy. Galveston is bout 80-90 miles each way from my house, but me and my wife have made that trip just to eat breakfast.
This looks good. It will be on the menu when the Cat and I move to KY.
My wife was skeptical about a truck stop for breakfast in PA. She was amazed that country folks could make an amazing breakfast of simply eggs, bacon and sausages.
She always wanted to go back there, but we never got the chance because she got sick not long after.
In this life we learn, and sometimes, the hard way.
Thank you for sharing this dish RLHOK66. I will make a point to make it.
The Second Amendment
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
1-1/2 lb ground beef ( Or ground sausage, however, have not tried it)
2 TBS butter
1 cup chopped onion (fine)
3 TBS flour
2 TSP granulated garlic
2 TSP soy sauce
1 TBS worcester sauce
2 cups milk
salt and pepper to taste
Toast of your choice (or biscuits)
Note: you might add a bit of curry powder to taste also.
Scramble the ground beef and drain well. Put back on heat and add butter, and chopped onion. Cook until onion is translucent. Add flour and stir until well mixed. Add granulated garlic, soy sauce, worcester and milk stirring as you go. Add salt and pepper to taste (and curry). If it needs thickening, add small amounts of flour until desired consistency, but, don't over do the flour adding)
Serve hot over toast or biscuits.
Enjoy

For you Army guys, you can use shaved beef instead of ground beef or ground sausage.
