10 rounds CCI Target at 25 yards sitting with rifle resting on leather bag. Every rifle /handgun I've used this ammo in shoots very high .Sights are low as they go on this one and that was 6 o'clock hold.
Will take some experimenting , Rem Target is one of my favorites for this type rifle but I'm out currently.
Tiny patch of fine pitted ahead of chamber I found during cleaning ,rifling is very sharp so I don't think it's been shot very little.98% of bore is mirror shine.
I might JB bore polish it and get a couple brands of SV ammo try again. Functioned perfectly, good trigger and fine sights too.
I went over the rifle with oil and 0000 wool to loosen action rust. It had a almost etched look and feel . Used vlean paper towels until surface rust was stopped and removed .
Final wipe with clean flannel and light CLP . Saved another one . This rifle came out of ANNA Texas , looked like it hadn't been touched in 75 years.
Very knowledgeable fella on Gunboards told me about the model 12 bolt failures and luckily this is a later production instead of earlier like I thought. It has the redesigned bolt with internal round FP. And I'd in good shape.
The model 121 had an even beefier bolt with wider lug .
Interesting how these older designs improve and or morph into newer models.
The was a little bit of adjustment on rear sight so I tried two 10 shot groups at 25 yards with CCI Target. Aim was POA at red dots . Think 6 o'clock hold on standard target will be good now.
I could not see front bead on this target as it was overcast ,it's brass and patina now . Think I will hit it with flitz and buff try again .
I did go back and repair both forend screws,as they were boogers a little. See original pics.
Placed screws in drill chuck and used a polished body hammer to peen down raised areas. Then a quick polish across with 180 and oxpho.
