The M38 is so small it could not be beat for running the mountain trails in Colorado, narrow and tight turns. Who needs one of those "side by side" ATVs?
Not if you're driving a M38. Only maybe 50 HP? Who cares, put it in 4-low and keep climbing. The super low gear ratio will keep you moving.

Here is my offroad rig. 1985 Toyota FJ60 on a logging road north of Cotopaxi CO. That thing is a bus compared to a M38. A lot longer and quite a bit wider.

I have a 1987 4Runner, first year with IFS and last year that 6-cyl was not available. It's great for mall crawlin' and the occasional run in the mountain snow.
I'm not interested in unloading it unless I can get a J40, J60, or J70 Land Crusher.

I like the old 4-Runners.
This one is my blue '85 FJ60 Land Cruiser followed by a '79 FJ40 LC that I bought new. This was May 24 coming back from a trip to Great Sand Dunes NP via Medano Pass. This is on a Forest service road on the side of Greenhorn mountain.
Got off Greenhorn mtn after dark. Name of the trail (see the sign) is "Little Froze Road" and it lived up to its rep:
