Just not catching by myself anyways. Good thing I didn't make any bets on first caught and biggest. Wife hasn't gone fishing with me since we moved here 9 yrs ago. Mainly because I'm up and moving way before daylight and she's not into that. But she had said she wanted to go fishing so I decided to make it a easy trip and not leave early. These 2 lakes are about 70 miles by road and about half that the way the crow flies.
back about 2008 the bark beetles started in the area and USFS wanted to spray or do a controlled burn to stop the spread. Well the tree huggers stopped that and it just devastated the area for miles around. Fast forward to the last forest fire and you guessed it. Burned right down to the barren ground. These lakes are at 7,000 ft level and are stocked a couple of times a yr. Wife caught the only trout and it was her first.
Going to take her again next week to another place closer to home and more scenic. She's already asked when are we going again.
ha ha ha Now you've gone and done it. Before you know it she'll be nudging you in bed...Honey get up... We're burning daylight...time to holoholo! ( go fish go hunt)

So I was talking with a friend of mine and he said he's caught more trout here on worms than with power bait. So while we were in town yesterday I went into our local ACE hardware/sporting goods to get a can of worms. There had been a sign on the door that the had worms but was taken down. So I looked around for a bit then went to ask the cashier. It was a young lady in her mid 20's or so and I thought this might not go to well but had to ask. She said can I help you? Yup please don't take this personal but have you got worms? Lucky she had a sense of humor and started laughing. But no they were out of worms and wouldn't be ordering more for the season. So next time I'm over in the basin I'll stop by BiMart or Sportsman's Whse and get some.
And yes the wife ask again yesterday when are we going next week.
On our rd trip last week we stopped to eat before heading to out motel for the night. It's a caf? I've ate at many times and has good food. I had a hamburger steak with the grilled onions and fries with gravy. Wife ordered butterflied shrimp! Oh and by the way we were in Idaho. Only 400 miles from the coast in a town with a population 250 border collies and 125 people. So after dinner I had to ask how her dinner was and she replied "oh it was okay". So I asked could you tell if it was Gorton's or pacific fresh.
Dang it she out fished me again. Using the same setup , hook size and bait. This time night crawlers she caught the first one before I could get mine baited and in the water. So she caught 2 and I caught 1. Cold N wind today so about 3 hrs was enough and had to give her my parka because she forgot hers .
