Dang! You guys play with hot stuff!
I usually use 230 grain bullets but when I was shooting the 200 grain SWC, my loads hovered around the 800 fps range (5 to 5.3 grains Unique). 1000 must be pretty snappy!
Yes, Sus, mine are a bit 'snappy' and sometimes I get a sore wrist.

Okay, you got me curious. I have been running the same 200 gr Powerbond PRN on top of 6.1 grains of Ramshot True Blue in my Dillon Square Deal B progressive for hundreds and hundreds of rounds. I knew this was a "spicy" load and was surprised a couple of years ago to find it supersonic when shooting out of my Rhineland Arms threaded 16-inch 45 ACP Mauser conversion with a suppressor. I set the Dillon up for loading 200 gr Lasercast SWC last year and cut the charge back to 6.0 grains of True Blue. Jeff's inquiry and the replies had me dust off the old Chrony F1 and do some science out the back door. First I had to scrounge around to find a 9-volt battery. Finally scavenged one from the dog's initial PetSafe invisible fence collar. It's a chunky box with the big battery in it and was a "backup" as he now wears a much smaller collar using a six-volt coin battery and he's so smart and knows his boundaries so well he doesn't really need it. Set the Chrony up at seven feet from the muzzle and ran five rounds of each out of a Springfield five-inch 1911 and just out of curiosity ran another five rounds of the PRN through the Mauser. I knew the PRNs were a recoil handicap for target shooting but those are an "all purpose" load and it appears that I am pushing the SWCs too hard as well.

Looking further, all the factory 45 ACP ammo I have been shooting in the challenge the last year has been either 185 or 200 gr and a quick check shows posted muzzle velocities of 890 to 910, so there's that!

My 45 ACP target load is a RCBS cast 200 grain SWC over 5.4 grains of W231. These loads only run a little over 700 fps. You don't need a lot of velocity to punch holes in paper.
Thats the same old load I have marked on my old Dillon 350 press Jim11B20! Had to be 40 years ago or so...
