Map showing AO's of U.S. Ground Forces in VietNam

I scanned this from a magazine several years ago. Thought some might find it interesting.
Click the bar then click the image and it will expand to full screen.

Down at the bottom . . . where it says IV Corps . . . right under that legend is the city Long Xuyen . . . my home for the last 9 months I was "in country".

I was surprised to see it on the map as a lot of the time it isn't.

    Thanks for the post . . .

    May God bless,

Yes they are. Not far out you can find the remains of WWII equipment that didn't quite make it to shore. Great spear fishing around the old junk. Whatta Hobby!

The northernmost province, Quang Tri, is missing the Red Diamond insignia of the US Army 5th Infantry Division (Mechanized).
When the Marines needed help up on the DMZ, the Army sent their best - 1st Infantry Brigade, 5th Inf Div. The other two brigades remained in Colorado.

We came under Command and Control of the 3rd Marine Division, and operated with them from Khe Sahn to the South China Sea.
When the Marines withdrew back to Guam in December 1969, it was just us and the ARVN's. Or, to but it another way - it was just us.

One of the Vietnam vets that went to GW1 with us had a diamond right shoulder patch.

He was an interesting cat, SSGT "Rockin' Ron" Robbins.

He snored louder than the Hulk, shook the entire barracks.
