I like the 300. I use mine for 100 yard work or less. Each mag and upper has ID bands on them so I do not get confused.

    Good read Van, thank you!

I'm excited to try it, after years of turning my nose up at it...

So I have nailed it together, been to the range for a burn down. Groups are decent 180 rounds in so far. 140 supersonic and 40 subsonic. It will absolutely smack the crap outta the steel plate at 100 yards.

Yea, the "300 blkout 125 gr. round has 993 ft-lbs at 100 yards. The 5.56mm 55 gr round had 191 ft-lbs at the same yardage."

Does that reinforce the "fat and slow VS small and fast" paradigm?

    Sure sounds like it.
I know that .45-70 of mine won't penetrate 3/8 steel plate like a .308 Win will, but it will bash it in and bend the snot out of it in a startling manner.

The amount of energy a bullet radiates into a target is determined by a simple formula taught in high school: It?s the product of one half the projectile?s mass times the square of the velocity.
The energy delivered to the target increases geometrically along with increases in mass, and exponentially with increases in velocity.

The larger a projectile?s surface area, the greater its ability to transfer its energy to the target, instead of simply penetrating straight through.
